Abstract [en]

Background. With the development of artificial intelligence technology, the cooperation between companies has become more and more frequent. People want to know what factors affect the cooperative development in the field of AI engineering. Some literature has described the factors affecting the cooperation in the field of traditional software development, but because AI is different, which factors will affect the cooperative development of AI still a mystery, especially in the area of cross-company collaboration.

Objectives. The objectives of this research are: 1) Collecting the factors that enable collaboration across companies in the development of the traditional SE by the Literature review. 2)To find the factors that enable collaboration across companies when they use open-source software or open-data in the development of the AI system by the interview. 3)To evaluate these factors empirically together with experts from Bonseyes and other companies by interview.

Methods. This paper adopts two methods to conduct this research. For cross company cooperation in the field of traditional software engineering, the author uses snowballing SLR method to obtain a list of factors. For cross company cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence development, using in-depth interviews to interview people with rich experience in artificial intelligence companies. By sorting various factors through Trello, the promotion factors suitable for the field of AI development are obtained.

Results. Through the snowballing SLR, 15 factors have got to promote cross company cooperation in the traditional SE field. After interviews with scientists, 1 suggestion factor was added. Finally, 10 factors were included that are also applicable in the AI field, and 6 factors were excluded.

Conclusions. This study identified some influencing factors to promote cross company collaboration in the field of AI development, and achieved objectives through two different research methods.
