Bakgrund: Fler äldre vårdas i hemmet, ofta med ett stort omvårdnadsbehov. För att vården ska vara säker i kommunal vård och omsorg behöver flera professioner samarbeta i team runt patienten. Syfte: Att beskriva specialistsjuksköterskan inom vård av äldres upplevelse av teamets betydelse för patientsäkerheten inom kommunal vård och omsorg. Metod: Studien genomfördes som en kvalitativ metod med induktiv ansats. Semistrukturerade intervjuer genomfördes till datainsamlingen där åtta specialistsjuksköterskor inom vård av äldre som arbetar inom hemsjukvården ingick. Kvalitativ innehållsanalys med en manifest ansats användes för att analysera det insamlade materialet. Resultat: Resultatet ledde fram till tre kategorier vilka var att samordna resurser, att fokus är på patienten och kommunikation och information når alla professioner runt patienten.  Slutsats: Det framkom att specialistsjuksköterskan inom vård av äldre anser att samordna resurser, att ha fokus på patienten och att kommunikation och information når alla professioner runt patienten. Background: More elderly people are cared for at home, often with a great need of care. For care to be safe in municipal care and social care, several professions need to collaborate in teams around the patient. Aim: To describe the specialist nurse in the care of the elderly's experience of the team's importance for patient safety in municipal health and social care. Method: The study was conducted as a qualitative method with an inductive approach. Semi-structured interviews were carried out for the data collection where eight specialist nurses in care of the elderly who work in home health care were included. Qualitative content analysis with a manifest approach was used to analyse the collected material. Results: The result led to three categories which were to coordinate resources, that the focus is on the patient and communication and information reaches all professions around the patient. Conclusion: It emerged that the specialist nurse in the care of elderly considers coordinating resources, focusing on the patient and that communication and information reach all the professions around the patient. An increased understanding and knowledge of the importance of the cooperation between different professions for patient safety needs to be applied in reality.  Keywords: Municipal health and care, patient safety, collaboration, communication, specialist nurse in care of the elderly
