Abstract
Background: The Swedish Child Health Services assignment is to promote health for all children. A part of their important work is to identify and confabulate with families about psycho-social risk factors. Previous research demonstrates that Child Health nurses experience challenges addressing psycho-social risk factors among families. A new instrument has been developed called Barnsäkert and the task is to facilitate the identification and the confabulation with psycho-social risk factors in Child Health Services.
Aim: The aim of the study was to illustrate the Child Health nurses experience of using the instrument Barnsäkert in Child Health Services.
Method: A qualitative method with inductive approach based on semi-structured interviews with eleven Child Health nurses in Blekinge. The analysis of the material was based on Graneheim and Lundmans qualitative content analysis.
The Result: The analysis resulted in three categories and ten sub-categories. The categories were Circumstances that determine if Barnsäkert can be used, Better prerequisite to catch the families and There is more help to get.
Conclusion: The result show experiences of different challenges of using Barnsäkert in Child Health Services. The result also shows that identification of families and the confabulate about psycho-social risk factors were promoted. The result shows that the collaboration with instances outside the Child Health Services is important for the Child health nurse.
