Blekinge Institute of Technology, Department of Business Administration and Social Science.
2004 (English)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesisAlternative title
Robust Adaptive Strategies : on business evolution by mother nature (Swedish)
Abstract [en]

(ENG): Biological organisms have, for millions of years, successfully handled competition and uncertainty. Companies can from a certain point of view resemble biological organism; as such they must also handle competition and uncertainty. What similarities are there between the biological world and the world of economics? How can we explain competition and uncertainty; and how has mother nature resolved these problems? The work is mainly based on complexity theory and evolution theory which are at the heart of the paradigm denoted as Robust Adaptive Strategies. The main purpose is to examine and visualize the relationship between uncertainty, competition, evolution theory, complexity theory, and business evolution, which constitutes the paradigm Robust Adaptive Strategies. A sub-purpose is to examine a company in a study drawn upon the paradigm.
