Blekinge Institute of Technology, Department of Human Work Science and Media Technology.
2002 (English)Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year))Student thesis
Abstract [en]

The industry of games is growing rapidly. The demands for better and better games grow along with it. But it isn?t just the game in itself that fully determines if it is a success or not. There are lots of small surrounding features that also help making a difference in the tough competition. This thesis will look into one of these aspects, the online multiplayer lobby. A study on the lobbies available today will show that they can be improved. Here it will be shown what parts of the lobby that are good and should be developed further. The paper will show what players strive for when they play and socialize in the lobby. This discussion will be followed by several suggestions to show how the lobby can be improved.
