Prim, City renewal in Barcelona (English)
Abstract [sv]
This final project discusses renewal and upgrading of the area of Prim. It is discussed how this industrial area can be an attractive neighborhood with a varied range of services and commercial trade. Prim is located 2km north-east of the center of Barcelona. The area boarders to a deep railway valley that historically has separated Prim from its neighboring districts. At present there is almost no housing, services or commercial trade within the area and the industry is discontinued or the existing industrial buildings are derelict. There is also a lack of green recreational areas. Prim is ripe for redevelopment since the municipality of Barcelona is planning to cover the existing railway tracks and build a new train and bus station between the districts. The new station and the covering of the railway lines is a part of the municipality’s future high-speed train project (El AVE). The train is expected to pass Barcelona and Prim by the year 2012 starting in Sevilla/Malaga via Madrid continuing north to Paris. The proposal is preceded by inventory and two analyses: Realistisk Byanalyse and a SWOT-analysis. On the basis of these analyses, areas were identified as the prime needs in the future development of Prim. These elements were: green environments, ecological sustainability, safety and security. These aspects were divided between the authors, by individual interests, into separate segments and makes up the basis for the joint proposal.
