Abstract [en]

The aim of this work is the evaluation of different specimen dimensions and crack length on the mechanical properties of HDPE (high quality density polyethylene) which it is often used in the packing industry. Two mother shape specimens are chosen and one is dog-bone shaped specimen, the other is shear specimen for studying shear damage. A series of experiments were processed and results show that fracture initiation in HDPE specimen is sensitive to the size of centre circled and pre-crack. A corresponding numerical simulation is calculated by ABAQUS explicit and the corresponding model in numerical simulation was chosen and result rather good match with shear tests. In addition to tensile experiment, the microscope analysis was operated to observe the fracture surface of specimen with scanning electron microscope. In application section, bottle cap opening study was carried out based on the numerical and experimental results.

Syftet med detta arbete är att utvärdera olika prov dimensioner och spricka längd på de mekaniska egenskaperna hos HDPE (hög kvalitet polyeten), som det ofta används i förpackningsindustrin. Två moder form prover väljs och en är hundbensformade prov, den andra är skjuv provet för att studera skjuvning skador. En serie experiment processades och resultaten visar att sprickinitiering i HDPE-provet är känslig för storleken på centrum inringad och pre-crack. En motsvarande numerisk simulering beräknas av ABAQUS explicit och motsvarande modell i numerisk simulering valdes och resultatet ganska bra match med säkerhetstest. Förutom drag experiment analys mikroskopet manövreras för att observera brottytan av provet med svepelektronmikroskop. I ansökan avsnittet, var kapsylen öppnings studie som utförts på grundval av de numeriska och experimentella resultat.
