Stress, control, and social support in the Emergency services (English)
Abstract [sv]

Nyckelord: Coping, kontroll, Räddningstjänsten, socialt stöd, stress The purpose of this study was to look at what stress means, how it is perceived and caused at the emergency services, and how it could be prevented. The survey was conducted from a quantitative point of view and sent to operators and fire fighters at the emergency services. The survey was filled in by 33 respondents in total. The age of the participants was not taken into consideration, only their numbers of years of work experience. The data was analyzed in SPSS, using a Chi-square test and a Pearsons's r test. The results showed that there was a negative correlation between both control and stress, as well as social support and stress, which is in accordance with precious research in the field. Over all, the participants experienced that they in general received social support and that they rarely experienced stress. Key words: Control, coping, emergency service, social support, stress
