Deltagandeprocessen i bruk (Swedish)
Abstract [en]

With todays planners and urban designers often using the participatory process, it is worth knowing that there are different ways that participation is used and to what ends. This thesis looks into three projects in Malmö, Sweden, all with their distinct character and approach to participatory practice. The three projects are labeled "initiative", "invitational" and "members only" - types of participatory practices. The methodology revolves around interviews with representatives from each project. The three projects are also vastly different in their forthcoming, scale, organisational structure and budgets, allowing for a broader perspective. The projects are looked at through the theories of established works on participation but also from a communications point of view, with some common finds leading to the conclusion.
