    Abstract [sv]

An Analysis of Marketing Strategies of an Integrated Facility Services Company: The Case of ISS, Sweden2008Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year))Student thesis
    Abstract [en]

TOPIC: An Analysis of Marketing Strategies of an Integrated Facility Services Company: The Case of ISS, Sweden AUTHORS: Collins Nwakanma Amanze, Sondengam B.K.A SUPERVISOR: Anders Hederstierna COURSE: Master Thesis in Business Administration DEPARTMENT: School of Management, Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden PROGRAMME: Masters in Business Administration (MBA) PURPOSE: The purpose of our research is to understand how Integrated Facility service companies (using ISS, Sweden as our focus) develop, plan and implement useful marketing strategies that are result orientated and in line with the triple bottom line which encompasses economic profitability, social awareness and environmental responsibility. METHOD: We used both primary and secondary data sources. The secondary data used were literature review to enable us understand the general concept on marketing strategies and what research has been conducted on our topic. The primary data source was mainly interview with our contact person at ISS. These methods are all geared towards answering our research questions. RESEARCH QUESTION: The research questions are: 1. What strategies are used by ISS? 2. What strategies (if any) are relevant for the possible growth of an integrated facility services company? 3. How can these strategies be used to yield expected results in form of environmental responsibility, profits and company growth? FINDINGS: From the research we conducted as well as the analysis we made, we were able to determine ISS marketing strategy and to also find out that their marketing strategies lead the organization towards their corporate vision of leading facility services globally. We also established the fact that since we studied only one integrated facility company which is ISS, our conclusions can not be generalized as a rule of thumb for every integrated facility service company due to several factors highlighted in the body of our thesis. Also, we stressed the importance of environmental management system for every integrated facility service company. This standard in our opinion, would not only proof that such a company is serious about corporate social responsibility, it would also help lead the organization towards the triple bottom line.

Business Intelligence Software Evaluation_Testing the SSAV Model2008Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year))Student thesis
    Abstract [en]

Having the right information in the right place at the right time is fundamental although not easy for the making of significant business decisions and staying competitive. Competitive Intelligence CI allows the scanning of the environment, the recognition of risks and opportunities in the competitive arena and a better understanding of today & tomorrow's information requirements with the support of Business Intelligence BI Software. Choosing the right BI software is critical to increase productivity and effectiveness in the organization. At the same time a very elaborating and complex process due to the fact that numerous vendors exist on the market most of which are updated very rapidly besides most of BI software selection criteria already used are vague and not complete. It is also difficult to evaluate BI effectiveness as a tool in conjunction with supporting the CI cycle different phases. The objective of this study is to develop a model and test it on a small sample of BI vendors to support organizations in selecting the BI Software that best fits their business needs as well as differentiating between different vendors in this area while developing a reliable categorization. It is the answer to the criticism of criteria selected in other BI Software evaluations today. The major criticism is that software calling themselves BI only cover parts of the Intelligence Cycle. A comprehensive review on CI concepts, BI software functions along with previous BI software evaluations have been conducted in order to fulfill the first objective of the study (The model). Moreover, qualitative empirical study using the model developed was carried out to fulfill the other objectives by evaluating a chosen sample of BI software vendors. The study was able to develop what has been called the Solberg Søilen Amara Vriens Model for evaluating BI software after its authors, that consists of technological variables that covers the BI function along with the variables for measuring the level of CI Cycle phases support on a (5) point Likert scale. Subsequently, it tested the model on a limited sample of BI Software vendors. Moreover, the findings of the study also revealed that it is difficult to declare the most competitive BI software as what is good for one user might not be good for the other depending on their varied business needs. Furthermore, the study initiated a new classification of BI Software vendors depending on their support of the CI cycle phases and divided them into five categories including: Fully complete, Complete, Semi Complete, Incomplete and Insubstantial. Finally, the SSAV Model Together with some proposed non technological variables and the classification developed can be used as a user's selection foundation when deciding upon which BI Software to pursue.

Evaluating Business Intelligence Software: Testing the SSAV ModelECISConference paper (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

Choosing the right Business Intelligence (BI) software is critical to increasing productivity and effectiveness in organizations today. At the same time it is a very elaborating and complex process to choose the right software due to the fact that a large number of BI products exist on the market, which are quite different and updated frequently. The objective of this study is to develop and test a model for the evaluation of BI Software. The findings of the study revealed that it is difficult to declare what is the most competitive BI software as what is good for one user might not be good for another depending on their different business needs. Having said that the study initiated a new classification of BI Software vendors depending on the degree to which they comply with the functions in the Competitive Intelligence (CI) cycle. The software tested was divided into five categories: Fully complete, Complete, Semi Complete, Incomplete and Insubstantial. We conclude that the SSAV (Solberg Søilen, Amara, Vriens) Model Together with some proposed non technological variables and a classification developed can be used as a user's selection tool for deciding which BI Software to purchase.

Continuous Integration, Deployment and Testing in DevOps Environment2016Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years)), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Context. Owing to a multitude of factors like rapid changes in technology, market needs, and business competitiveness, software companies these days are facing pressure to deliver software rapidly and on a frequent basis. For frequent and faster delivery, companies should be lean and agile in all phases of the software development life cycle. An approach called DevOps, which is based on agile principles has come into play. DevOps bridges the gap between development and operations teams and facilitates faster product delivery. The DevOps phenomenon has gained a wide popularity in the past few years, and several companies are adopting DevOps to leverage its perceived benefits. However, the organizations may face several challenges while adopting DevOps. There is a need to obtain a clear understanding of how DevOps functions in an organization.

Objectives. The main aim of this study is to provide a clear understanding about how DevOps works in an organization to researchers and software practitioners. The objectives of the study are to identify the benefits of implementing DevOps in organizations where agile development is in practice, the challenges faced by organizations during DevOps adoption, to identify the solutions/ mitigation strategies, to overcome the challenges, the DevOps practices, and the problems faced by DevOps teams during continuous integration, deployment and testing.

Methods. A mixed methods approach having both qualitative and quantitative research methods is used to accomplish the research objectives.A Systematic Literature Review is conducted to identify the benefits and challenges of DevOps adoption, and the DevOps practices. Interviews are conducted to further validate the SLR findings, and identify the solutions to overcome DevOps adoption challenges, and the DevOps practices. The SLR and interview results are mapped, and a survey questionnaire is designed. The survey is conducted to validate the qualitative data, and to identify the other benefits and challenges of DevOps adoption, solutions to overcome the challenges, DevOps practices, and the problems faced by DevOps teams during continuous integration, deployment and testing.

Results. 31 primary studies relevant to the research are identified for conducting the SLR. After analysing the primary studies, an initial list of the benefits and challenges of DevOps adoption, and the DevOps practices is obtained. Based on the SLR findings, a semi-structured interview questionnaire is designed, and interviews are conducted. The interview data is thematically coded, and a list of the benefits, challenges of DevOps adoption and solutions to overcome them, DevOps practices, and problems faced by DevOps teams is obtained. The survey responses are statistically analysed, and a final list of the benefits of adopting DevOps, the adoption challenges and solutions to overcome them, DevOps practices and problems faced by DevOps teams is obtained.

Conclusions. Using the mixed methods approach, a final list of the benefits of adopting DevOps, DevOps adoption challenges, solutions to overcome the challenges, practices of DevOps, and the problems faced by DevOps teams during continuous integration, deployment and testing is obtained. The list is clearly elucidated in the document. The final list can aid researchers and software practitioners in obtaining a better understanding regarding the functioning and adoption of DevOps. Also, it has been observed that there is a need for more empirical research in this domain.

Empirical research in requirements engineering: trends and opportunities2018In: Requirements Engineering, ISSN 0947-3602, E-ISSN 1432-010X, Vol. 23, no 1, p. 63-95Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

Requirements engineering (RE) being a foundation of software development has gained a great recognition in the recent era of prevailing software industry. A number of journals and conferences have published a great amount of RE research in terms of various tools, techniques, methods, and frameworks, with a variety of processes applicable in different software development domains. The plethora of empirical RE research needs to be synthesized to identify trends and future research directions. To represent a state-of-the-art of requirements engineering, along with various trends and opportunities of empirical RE research, we conducted a systematic mapping study to synthesize the empirical work done in RE. We used four major databases IEEE, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink and ACM and Identified 270 primary studies till the year 2012. An analysis of the data extracted from primary studies shows that the empirical research work in RE is on the increase since the year 2000. The requirements elicitation with 22 % of the total studies, requirements analysis with 19 % and RE process with 17 % are the major focus areas of empirical RE research. Non-functional requirements were found to be the most researched emerging area. The empirical work in the sub-area of requirements validation and verification is little and has a decreasing trend. The majority of the studies (50 %) used a case study research method followed by experiments (28 %), whereas the experience reports are few (6 %). A common trend in almost all RE sub-areas is about proposing new interventions. The leading intervention types are guidelines, techniques and processes. The interest in RE empirical research is on the rise as whole. However, requirements validation and verification area, despite its recognized importance, lacks empirical research at present. Furthermore, requirements evolution and privacy requirements also have little empirical research. These RE sub-areas need the attention of researchers for more empirical research. At present, the focus of empirical RE research is more about proposing new interventions. In future, there is a need to replicate existing studies as well to evaluate the RE interventions in more real contexts and scenarios. The practitioners’ involvement in RE empirical research needs to be increased so that they share their experiences of using different RE interventions and also inform us about the current requirements-related challenges and issues that they face in their work. © 2016 Springer-Verlag London

    Abstract [sv]

Visualizing Material on Site for Machines and Humans: A Step toward an Autonomous Construction Site2017Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years)), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

The construction industry has not seen the same growth in productivity as e.g. the manufacturing- and automobile industry. This is largely due to the ease of implementing automation and robotics in the latter mentioned industries. Now more than before when the urbanization rate is increasing, there is a strong need in increasing the efficiency of the construction industry. That is why the research questions of this thesis work involves finding a complementary solution that will help autonomous construction machines operate in a dynamic construction site. The aim is permeated by two visions. The first one being to have autonomous construction machines collaborating with humans in the most remote places in the world. The second vision is that multiple smaller construction machines is more beneficial. Meaning a few machine breakdowns would not halt the entire construction process.

During the research work, using the design research methodology and the innovation process, data showed that a construction site is very dynamic and complex. Having a change in factors such as size of construction site, number of involved stakeholders, location of the construction site, and time phase heavily affects the complexity of the site. Throughout the three case studies there were different characteristics, but there was a pattern. All the mentioned factors played a huge role in what needs expressed by the interviewees. The more complex a site was, the more there was a need to organize the material, personnel and machine flow. Therefore, the final solution is to decentralize the information flow of the construction site. Meaning that all humans, machines and material on site is to communicate its information. The suggested solution is the usage of a tag using GPS and Wi-Fi to communicate location and the necessary information. Thus, when attaching the tag onto a material, the workers and the machine will know of its information.

The analogy is that when the implementation of autonomous machines is up to pace, the sites need to be prepared with all the errors and issues that might come with it. Since the autonomous construction machines will be collaborating with humans, it means that the issues expressed today will reappear in the future. Also, since the implementation of autonomy and robotics has been slow for the construction industry, there is a clear need of a complementary solution to speed up the process. By decentralizing the construction site and implementing tags on each interesting point, the once complex and changing construction site, will turn into a fully digitized infrastructure.

Brand Value Creation Through Stakeholders2010Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year))Student thesis
    Abstract [en]

In this modern era of marketing, brand management is the widely discussed topic and has proved its importance in the 21st century. In the past, brand value was mainly associated with the customers only. However, recent researchers identified its importance into non- customer areas. Brand equity and brand value terms are discussed with special emphases on their relation with the relevant stakeholders. The main idea behind this research is to reflect stakeholders‘ relations and their role in the brand value creation for the energy companies in Pakistan. For this purpose, we have used Richard Jones (2005) ―Stakeholder model of brand value‖ which shows that brand value is not only created by the customers but also by the all other relevant stakeholders.

Multi Channel Sub Band Wiener Beamformer2012Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years))Student thesis
    Abstract [en]

With the recent advance in microphone array speech processing, achieving robustness of speaker localization becomes most significant aspect. At the same time considerable research growth is performed in developing the multiple microphone sensors equipped rooms are developed also called as smart rooms for real time applications. The accuracy of speaker localization is down casted by acoustic noise and room reverberations. In distributed meeting environment speaker localization is performed by far field microphone arrays with the help of beamforming. But far field Microphone performance is degraded by room reverberations and acoustic noise. In this master thesis, speaker localization with two adaptive beamforming techniques in distributed meeting application in reverberated environment with the help of far filed microphone arrays is design and implemented. The two beamforming methods examined are multichannel wiener beamformer and multichannel sub band wiener beamformer. These methods use wiener filtering technique for their implementation and they are implemented to capture the human voice using widely separated microphone arrays even when irregular disturbances are present. A smart room is developed with Image source model for generating reverberation in which beamformers are implemented. In sub band beamformer WOLA filter bank is designed. The sub band beamforming is further extended to steered response power with phase transform for speaker localization is achieved with the cross correlation but speech is heavily degraded by the noise which can be further studied to eliminated it. Finally the quality of the speech is tested using SNR and PESQ (Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality) and also the performance of the system with respect to reverberation time is calculated. The results show that the two implementations are acceptable in terms of PESQ score.

    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [sv]

Facebook Blocket with Unsupervised Learning2014Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
    Abstract [en]

The Internet has become a valuable channel for both business-to- consumer and business-to-business e-commerce. It has changed the way for many companies to manage the business. Every day, more and more companies are making their presence on Internet. Web sites are launched for online shopping as web shops or on-line stores are a popular means of goods distribution. The number of items sold through the internet has sprung up significantly in the past few years. Moreover, it has become a choice for customers to do shopping at their ease. Thus, the aim of this thesis is to design and implement a consumer to consumer application for Facebook, which is one of the largest social networking website. The application allows Facebook users to use their regular profile (on Facebook) to buy and sell goods or services through Facebook. As we already mentioned, there are many web shops such as eBay, Amazon, and applications like blocket on Facebook. However, none of them is directly interacting with the Facebook users, and all of them are using their own platform. Users may use the web shop link from their Facebook profile and will be redirected to web shop. On the other hand, most of the applications in Facebook use notification method to introduce themselves or they push their application on the Facebook pages. This application provides an opportunity to Facebook users to interact directly with other users and use the Facebook platform as a selling/buying point. The application is developed by using a modular approach. Initially a Python web framework, i.e., Django is used and association rule learning is applied for the classification of users’ advertisments. Apriori algorithm generates the rules, which are stored as separate text file. The rule file is further used to classify advertisements and is updated regularly.

    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [sv]

Abstract In the contemporary world of information technology you find a multitude of applications and systems covering a broad spectrum of areas of need in different companies. One effect of this multitude of programs is the difficulty to make them exchange information with each other or to collaborate, since they are developed by different programming languages for different platforms, with different standards and different data formats. Our aim with this work is to describe how it is possible to tie these programs together to make them actually communicate with each other in order to exchange information, share their native methods and also to become a part of the overall business processes. In this integration task you will, among other things, find different levels of application integration such as data level, method level, application interface level and user interface level integration. Application integration also involves hardware components, called middleware, that facilitate the physical connection between applications. There is a range of different middleware products offered today on the market. The functionalities of those products varies greatly depending on which technology or technologies they are built around and which vendor they come from. In order to make a connection to a real life situation we have made up a company with a need of integration. By trying to choose a solution for this company we discuss what to integrate, data, methods etc, and the technical solution, middleware product, which might be useful to integrate the different kind of applications in our imaginary company. Finally we have come up with some conclusions in our work. These are both of a more general art and also a conclusion specific to our case study.

Robust Image Hash Spoofing2016Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years)), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

With the intensively increasing of digital media new challenges has been created for

authentication and protection of digital intellectual property. A hash function extracts certain

features of a multimedia object e.g. an image and maps it to a fixed string of bits. A perceptual

hash function unlike normal cryptographic hash is change tolerant for image processing

techniques. Perceptual hash function also referred to as robust hash, like any other algorithm is

prone to errors. These errors are false negative and false positive, of which false positive error is

neglected compared to false negative errors. False positive occurs when an unknown object is

identified as known. In this work a new method for raising false alarms in robust hash function is

devised for evaluation purposes i.e. this algorithm modifies hash key of a target image to

resemble a different image’s hash key without any significant loss of quality to the modified

image. This algorithm is implemented in MATLAB using block mean value based hash function

and successfully reduces hamming distance between target image and modified image with a

good result and without significant loss to attacked imaged quality.

A Comprehensive Evaluation of Conversion Approaches for Different Function Points2011Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years))Student thesis
    Abstract [en]

Context: Software cost and effort estimation are important activities for planning and estimation of software projects. One major player for cost and effort estimation is functional size of software which can be measured in variety of methods. Having several methods for measuring one entity, converting outputs of these methods becomes important. Objectives: In this study we investigate different techniques that have been proposed for conversion between different Functional Size Measurement (FSM) techniques. We addressed conceptual similarities and differences between methods, empirical approaches proposed for conversion, evaluation of the proposed approaches and improvement opportunities that are available for current approaches. Finally, we proposed a new conversion model based on accumulated data. Methods: We conducted a systematic literature review for investigating the similarities and differences between FSM methods and proposed approaches for conversion. We also identified some improvement opportunities for the current conversion approaches. Sources for articles were IEEE Xplore, Engineering Village, Science Direct, ISI, and Scopus. We also performed snowball sampling to decrease chance of missing any relevant papers. We also evaluated the existing models for conversion after merging the data from publicly available datasets. By bringing suggestions for improvement, we developed a new model and then validated it. Results: Conceptual similarities and differences between methods are presented along with all methods and models that exist for conversion between different FSM methods. We also came with three major contributions for existing empirical methods; for one existing method (piecewise linear regression) we used a systematic and rigorous way of finding discontinuity point. We also evaluated several existing models to test their reliability based on a merged dataset, and finally we accumulated all data from literature in order to find the nature of relation between IFPUG and COSMIC using LOESS regression technique. Conclusions: We concluded that many concepts used by different FSM methods are common which enable conversion. In addition statistical results show that the proposed approach to enhance piecewise linear regression model slightly increases model’s test results. Even this small improvement can affect projects’ cost largely. Results of evaluation of models show that it is not possible to say which method can predict unseen data better than others and it depends on the concerns of practitioner that which model should be used. And finally accumulated data confirms that empirical relation between IFPUG and COSMIC is not linear and can be presented by two separate lines better than other models. Also we noted that unlike COSMIC manual’s claim that discontinuity point should be around 200 FP, in merged dataset discontinuity point is around 300 to 400. Finally we proposed a new conversion approach using systematic approach and piecewise linear regression. By testing on new data, this model shows improvement in MMRE and Pred(25).

Automated Camera Placement using Hybrid Particle Swarm Optimization2014Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years))Student thesis
    Abstract [en]

Context. Automatic placement of surveillance cameras' 3D models in an arbitrary floor plan containing obstacles is a challenging task. The problem becomes more complex when different types of region of interest (RoI) and minimum resolution are considered. An automatic camera placement decision support system (ACP-DSS) integrated into a 3D CAD environment could assist the surveillance system designers with the process of finding good camera settings considering multiple constraints. Objectives. In this study we designed and implemented two subsystems: a camera toolset in SketchUp (CTSS) and a decision support system using an enhanced Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm (HPSO-DSS). The objective for the proposed algorithm was to have a good computational performance in order to quickly generate a solution for the automatic camera placement (ACP) problem. The new algorithm benefited from different aspects of other heuristics such as hill-climbing and greedy algorithms as well as a number of new enhancements. Methods. Both CTSS and ACP-DSS were designed and constructed using the information technology (IT) research framework. A state-of-the-art evolutionary optimization method, Hybrid PSO (HPSO), implemented to solve the ACP problem, was the core of our decision support system. Results. The CTSS is evaluated by some of its potential users after employing it and later answering a conducted survey. The evaluation of CTSS confirmed an outstanding satisfactory level of the respondents. Various aspects of the HPSO algorithm were compared to two other algorithms (PSO and Genetic Algorithm), all implemented to solve our ACP problem. Conclusions. The HPSO algorithm provided an efficient mechanism to solve the ACP problem in a timely manner. The integration of ACP-DSS into CTSS might aid the surveillance designers to adequately and more easily plan and validate the design of their security systems. The quality of CTSS as well as the solutions offered by ACP-DSS were confirmed by a number of field experts.

Personer med diabetes typ 2 upplevelse av sjuksköterskans stöd vid livsstilsförändringar: En litteraturstudie2019Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

Resultat: Analysen resulterade i två huvudkategorier.

DIFFERENTIAL CODE SHIFTED REFERENCE IMPULSE-BASED COOPERATIVE UWB COMMUNICATION SYSTEM2013Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years))Student thesis
    Abstract [en]

Cooperative Impulse Response – Ultra Wideband (IR-UWB) communication is a radio technology very popular for short range communication systems as it enables single-antenna mobiles in a multi-user environment to share their antennas by creating virtual MIMO to achieve transmit diversity. In order to improve the cooperative IR-UWB system performance, we are going to use Differential Code Shifted Reference (DCSR). The simulations are used to compute Bit Error Rate (BER) of DCSR in cooperative IR-UWB system using different numbers of Decode and Forward relays while changing the distance between the source node and destination nodes. The results suggest that when compared to Code Shifted Reference (CSR) cooperative IR-UWB communication system; the DCSR cooperative IR-UWB communication system performs better in terms of BER, power efficiency and channel capacity. The simulations are performed for both non-line of sight (N-LOS) and line of sight (LOS) conditions and the results confirm that system has better performance under LOS channel environment. The simulation results also show that performance improves as we increase the number of relay nodes to a sufficiently large number.

Video QoE Killer and Performance Statistics in WebRTC-based Video Communication2016Conference paper (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

In this paper, we investigate session-related performance statistics of a Web-based Real-Time Communication (WebRTC) application called appear. in. We explore the characteristics of these statistics and explore how they may relate to users' Quality of Experience (QoE). More concretely, we have run a series of tests involving two parties and according to different test scenarios, and collected real-time session statistics by means of Google Chrome's WebRTC-internals tool. Despite the fact that the Chrome statistics have a number of limitations, our observations indicate that they are useful for QoE research when these limitations are known and carefully handled when performing post-processing analysis. The results from our initial tests show that a combination of performance indicators measured at the sender's and receiver's end may help to identify severe video freezes (being an important QoE killer) in the context of WebRTC-based video communication. In this paper the performance indicators used are significant drops in data rate, non-zero packet loss ratios, non-zero PLI values, and non-zero bucket delay.

Exploring the Usefulness of Machine Learning in the Context of WebRTC Performance Estimation2019In: Proceedings - Conference on Local Computer Networks, LCN / [ed] Andersson K.,Tan H.-P.,Oteafy S., IEEE Computer Society , 2019, p. 406-413Conference paper (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

We address the challenge faced by service providers in monitoring Quality of Experience (QoE) related metrics for WebRTC-based audiovisual communication services. By extracting features from various application-layer performance statistics, we explore the potential of using machine learning (ML) models to estimate perceivable quality impairments and to identify root causes. We argue that such performance-related data can be valuable and informative from a QoE assessment point of view, by allowing to identify the party/parties in a call that is/are experiencing quality impairments, and to trace the origins and causes of the problem. The paper includes case studies of multi-party videoconferencing that are established in a laboratory environment and exposed to various network disturbances and CPU limitations. Our results show that perceivable quality impairments in terms of video blockiness and audio distortions may be estimated with a high level of accuracy, thus proving the potential of exploiting ML models for automated QoE-driven monitoring and estimation of WebRTC performance. © 2019 IEEE.

    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [en]

Risk Control Systems in the Bankning Sector: A Case of Intercontinental Bank Ghana LTD2012Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year))Student thesis
    Abstract [en]

Risk management as a component of the internal control mechanism of any organisation is as important as the reason for the existence of that organisation. This is because any organisation without a risk management system in place may as well not be in existence since they may lose the profit and the whole capital together. Every organisation needs to put in place risk management and internal control systems in order to achieve the ultimate objectives of the organisation. This research work sought to examine the implications of risk management, particularly the effectiveness of internal controls as a risk management tool in improving bank performance. Specifically to identify risk associated with providing banking services, to explore the viability of Intercontinental Bank’s internal control systems as risk management tool, to access the impact of internal control as risk management tool on IBG’s performance. The Financial Sector was chosen as according to information from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, the financial services sector contributed 56.7 percent by way of total assets to the gross domestic product (GDP) at the end of January 2008. This represented a significant growth from 31.9 percent at the end of December 31, 2005 and the sector is likely to be more prone to risk (Yeboah, 2008). Purposive sampling technique was used in choosing Intercontinental bank as a case study and also the availability of research information was considered. Employees of the bank were surveyed on various internal control mechanisms that must be in operation and their effectiveness. The management of the bank were also interviewed since they are the regulators, implementers and supervisors of those internal control systems. Some of the risk associated with providing banking services identified were: availability of organisational objectives, availability of competent staff, and provision of resources, risk management policies and technology. The findings showed that the bank was doing well in putting all the internal control mechanisms that must be in place and the supervision of the control mechanisms was quite strong. However, their weakest point was the allocations of resources to enable personell perform certain risk sensitive duties like advancing credit to customers in SME (small and Medium Scale) business category. It was recommended that risk management policies of the bank must be updated regularly to avoid them to getting irrelevant with time. Also, the bank must make the effort to resource all departments/units of the bank with the right number of experienced and trained staff for them to be able to carry out their task in a manner that avoids the occurrence of unnecessary risk.

Video Quality of Experience through Emulated Mobile Channels2014Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years))Student thesis
    Abstract [en]

Over the past few years, Internet traffic took a ramp increase. Of which, most of the traffic is video traffic. With the latest Cisco forecast it is estimated that, by 2017 online video will be highly adopted service with large customer base. As the networks are being increasingly ubiquitous, applications are turning equally intelligent. A typical video communication chain involves transmission of encoded raw video frames with subsequent decoding at the receiver side. One such intelligent codec that is gaining large research attention is H.264/SVC, which can adapt dynamically to the end device configurations and network conditions. With such a bandwidth hungry, video communications running over lossy mobile networks, its extremely important to quantify the end user acceptability. This work primarily investigates the problems at player user interface level compared to the physical layer disturbances. We have chosen Inter frame time at the Application layer level to quantify the user experience (player UI) for varying lower layer metrics like noise and link power with nice demonstrator telling cases. The results show that extreme noise and low link level settings have adverse effect on user experience in temporal dimension. The video are effected with frequent jumps and freezes.

Situated Gaming: The story of the past, present and future in women's digital game world.2018Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

In this bachelor thesis we research and discuss a theme that has been the focus for many feminist figures and groups in both older and recent content where they clash together in an effort to find a solution to a problem that has been plaguing our society. The problem being; a lack in diversity inside Game development companies and creation, thus our question becomes; how can We include or encourage more women to enter the digital world and participate in programming and game making. The methods that has been chosen for this thesis range from Critical Design: to design and create a unique game of our own, Interviews: to question women from different backgrounds and ages to find out what they want/wish for regarding games, to Kanban: where we use it to get our project together. All while linking this entire thesis to Situated Knowledge concept where we dive in deeper to what it means in the discussion part and how in our results we discoverer a way that we individually can use to change the gaming industry and its involvement.

Study on Assessing QoE of 3DTV Using Subjective Methods2013Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years))Student thesis
    Abstract [en]

The ever increasing popularity and enormous growth in 3D movie industry is the stimulating phenomenon for the penetration of 3D services into home entertainment systems. Providing a third dimension gives intense visual experience to the viewers. Being a new eld, there are several researches going on to measure the end user's viewing experience. Research groups including 3D TV manufacturers, service providers and standards organizations are interested to improve user experience. Recent research in 3D video quality measurements have revealed uncertain issues as well as more well known results. Measuring the perceptual stereoscopic video quality by subjective testing can provide practical results. This thesis studies and investigate three di erent rating scales (Video Quality, Visual Discomfort and Sense of Presence) and compares them by subjective testing, combined with two viewing distances at 3H and 5H, where H is the hight of display screen. This thesis work shows that single rating scale produces the same result as three di erent scales and viewing distance has very less or no impact on Quality of Experience (QoE) of 3DTV for 3H and 5H distances for symmetric coding impairments.

Symmetries and conservation laws of the generalized Krichever-Novikov equation2016In: Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical, ISSN 1751-8113, E-ISSN 1751-8121, Vol. 49, no 10, article id 105201Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

A computational classification of contact symmetries and higher-order local symmetries that do not commute with t, x, as well as local conserved densities that are not invariant under t, x is carried out for a generalized version of the Krichever-Novikov (KN) equation. Several new results are obtained. First, the KN equation is explicitly shown to have a local conserved density that contains t, x. Second, apart from the dilational point symmetries known for special cases of the KN equation and its generalized version, no other local symmetries with low differential order are found to contain t, x. Third, the basic Hamiltonian structure of the KN equation is used to map the local conserved density containing t, x into a nonlocal symmetry that contains t, x. Fourth, a recursion operator is applied to this nonlocal symmetry to produce a hierarchy of nonlocal symmetries that have explicit dependence on t, x. When the inverse of the Hamiltonian map is applied to this hierarchy, only trivial conserved densities are obtained.

Evaluation of ROS and Arduino Controllers for the OBDH Subsystem of a CubeSat2012Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years))Student thesis
    Abstract [en]

CubeSat projects in various universities around the world have become predominant in the study and research for developing CubeSats. Such projects have broadened the scope for understanding this new area of space research. Different CubeSats have been developed by other universities and institutions for different applications. The process of design, development and deployment of CubeSats involves several stages of theoretical and practical work ranging from understanding the concepts associated with communication subsystems, data handling subsystems to innovations in the field like implementing compatible operating systems in the CubeSat processors and new designs of transceivers and other components. One of the future trend setting research areas in CubeSat projects is the implementation of ROS in CubeSat. Robot Operating System (ROS) is aiming to capture the future of many embedded systems including Robotics. In this thesis, an attempt is made to understand the challenges faced during implementing ROS in CubeSat to provide a foundation for the OBDH subsystem and provide important guidelines for future developers relying on ROS run CubeSats. Since using traditional transceivers and power supply would be expensive, we have tried simulating Arduino to act as transceiver and power supply subsystems. Arduino is an open-source physical computing platform based on a simple microcontroller board, and a development environment for writing software for the board designed to make the process of using electronics in major embedded projects more accessible and inexpensive. Another important focus in this thesis has been to establish communication between CubeSat kit and Arduino. The major motivating factor for this thesis was to experiment with and come up with alternate ways which could prove as important measures in future to develop an effective and useful CubeSat by cutting down on development costs. An extensive literature review is carried out on the concepts of Arduino boards and ROS and its uses in Robotics which served as a base to understand its use in CubeSat. Experiment is conducted to communicate the CubeSat kit with Arduino. The results from the study of ROS and experiments with Arduino have been highly useful in drafting major problems and complications that developers would encounter while implementing ROS in CubeSat. Comprehensive analysis to the results obtained serve as important suggestions and guidelines for future researchers working in this field.

Stereo Echo Cancellation(SEC) employing Signal Decorrelation with emphasis on Affine Projection Algorithm(APA)2013Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years))Student thesis
    Abstract [en]

Monophonic tele-conferencing systems employ acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) to reduce echoes that result from coupling between loudspeaker and microphone. Acoustic echo cancellation is simple to develope as there is a single channel. But future tele conferencing systems are expected to have multi channel communication which is necessary in hands-free multi user tele communication systems. Stereophonic echo cancellation (SEC), has been studied since the early 1990s, in hands-free tele communication applications such as tele conferencing, multi user desktop conferencing, and tele video gaming. To enhance the sound realism in order to increase the speech intelligibilty it is necessary to use two channel (stereo) audio systems. This requires SEC systems. In SEC there is a fundamental problem that the adaptive algorithm used can not identify correct echo path responses due to strong correlation between stereo signals and also the convergence is slow. In this case it is necessary to identify two echo paths for each channel thus there are four echo paths to identify which is very difficult. In this thesis, the problems with stereo echo cancellation is explained and echo cancellation with emphasis on two channel affine projection algorithm (APA) is studied. The signal de-correlation techniques are reviewed and compared. The idea behind signal decorrelation techniques is to introduce nonlinearity into each channel. This can be done by using half-wave rectifiers or time varying all-pass filters.Three methods were developed to reduce correlation between stereo signals. One, is to use two positive half-wave rectifiers on both channels considered as NLP1. Second, is to use positive and negative half-wave rectifiers on each channel (NLP2). Third, is to use time varying all-pass filters (TV-APF) on both channels with delays. Experiments were performed using MATLAB and observed echo return loss enhancement (ERLE) and misalignment(MIS) with different scenarios. The euclidean norm distance calculation has been used to find out MIS between filter coefficients and true echo path models. It is observed that NLP1 and NLP2 lack signal perception even though ERLE was good. The MIS falls down below 25dB with decorrelated stereo signals. The use of TV-APFs gives good echo cancellation and does not effect the signal perception, the ERLE in this case was 40.3231dB.

Patientens upplevelse av autonomi efter stroke på somatisk vårdavdelning.: En kvalitativ litteraturstudie2017Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

The Effects of the Digital Platform Support Monitoring and Reminder Technology for Mild Dementia (SMART4MD) for People With Mild Cognitive Impairment and Their Informal Carers: Protocol for a Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial2019In: JMIR Research Protocols, ISSN 1929-0748, E-ISSN 1929-0748, Vol. 8, no 6, article id e13711Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

Background: Many countries are witnessing a trend of growth in the number and proportion of older adults within the total population. In Europe, population aging has had and will continue to have major social and economic consequences. This is a fundamentally positive development where the added life span is of great benefit for both the individual and the society. Yet, the risk for the individual to contract noncommunicable diseases and disability increases with age. This may adversely affect the individual's ability to live his or her life in the way that is desired. Cognitive conditions constitute a group of chronic diseases that predominantly affects older people. Recent technology advancements can help support the day-to-day living activities at home for people with cognitive impairments. Objective: A digital platform (Support Monitoring and Reminder for Mild Dementia; SMART4MD) is created to improve or maintain the quality of life for people with mild cognitive impairment (PwMCI) and their carers. The platform will provide reminders, information, and memory support in everyday life, with the purpose of giving structure and lowering stress. In the trial, we will include participants with a diagnosed neurocognitive disorder as well as persons with an undiagnosed subjective memory problem and cognitive impairment, that is, 20 to 28 points on the Mini-Mental State Examination. Methods: A pragmatic, multicenter RCT is being conducted in Spain, Sweden, and Belgium. The targets for recruitment are 1200 dyads-split into an intervention group and a control group that are in usual care. Intervention group participants will be provided with a data-enabled computer tablet with the SMART4MD app. Its core functionalities, intended to be used daily at home, are based on reminders, cognitive supporting activities, and sharing health information. Results: Inclusion of participants started in December 2017, and recruitment is expected to end in February 2019. Furthermore, there will be 3 follow-up visits at 6, 12, and 18 months after the baseline visit. Conclusions: This RCT is expected to offer benefits at several levels including in-depth knowledge of the possibilities of introducing a holistic multilayered information and communication technology solution for this group. SMART4MD has been developed in a process involving the structured participation of PwMCI, their informal carers, and clinicians. The adoption of SMART4MD faces the challenge of this age group's relative unfamiliarity with digital devices and services. However, this challenge can also be an opportunity for developing a digital device tailored to a group at risk of digital exclusion. This research responds to the wider call for the development of digital devices which are accessible and affordable to older people and this full scale RCT can hopefully serve as a model for further studies in this field.

Analyzing nursing students’ relation to electronic health and technology as individuals and students and in their future career (the ENURSED study): Protocol for a longitudinal study2019In: Journal of Medical Internet Research, ISSN 1438-8871, E-ISSN 1438-8871, Vol. 21, no 10, article id e14643Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

Background: The nursing profession has undergone several changes in the past decades, and new challenges are to come in the future; patients are now cared for in their home, hospitals are more specialized, and primary care will have a key role. Health informatics is essential in all core competencies in nursing. From an educational perspective, it is of great importance that students are prepared for the new demands and needs of the patients. From a societal point of view, the society, health care included, is facing several challenges related to technological developments and digitization. Preparation for the next decade of nursing education and practice must be done, without the advantage of certainty. A training for not-yet-existing technologies where educators should not be limited by present practice paradigms is desirable. This study presents the design, method, and protocol for a study that investigates undergraduate nursing students’ internet use, knowledge about electronic health (eHealth), and attitudes to technology and how experiences of eHealth are handled during the education in a multicenter study. Objective: The primary aim of this research project is to describe the design of a longitudinal study and a qualitative substudy consisting of the following aspects that explore students’ knowledge about and relation to technology and eHealth: (1) what pre-existing knowledge and interest of this area the nursing students have and (2) how (and if) is it present in their education, (3) how do the students perceive this knowledge in their future career role, and (4) to what extent is the education capable of managing this knowledge? Methods: The study consists of two parts: a longitudinal study and a qualitative substudy. Students from the BSc in Nursing program from the Blekinge Institute of Technology, Karlskrona, Sweden, and from the Swedish Red Cross University College, Stockholm/Huddinge, Sweden, were included in this study. Results: The study is ongoing. Data analysis is currently underway, and the first results are expected to be published in 2019. Conclusions: This study presents the design of a longitudinal study and a qualitative substudy. The eHealth in Nursing Education eNursEd study will answer several important questions about nursing students’ attitudes toward and use of information and communications technology in their private life, their education, and their emerging profession. Knowledge from this study will be used to compare different nursing programs and students’ knowledge about and relation to technology and eHealth. Results will also be communicated back to nursing educators to improve the teaching of eHealth, health informatics, and technology. ©Peter Anderberg, Gunilla Björling, Louise Stjernberg, Doris Bohman.

A Novel Instrument for Measuring Older People's Attitudes Toward Technology (TechPH): Development and Validation2019In: Journal of Medical Internet Research, ISSN 1438-8871, E-ISSN 1438-8871, Vol. 21, no 5, article id e13951Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

Background: The use of health technology by older people is coming increasingly in focus with the demographic changes. Health information technology is generally perceived as an important factor in enabling increased quality of life and reducing the cost of care for this group. Age-appropriate design and facilitation of technology adoption are important to ensure functionality and removal of various barriers to usage. Development of assessment tools and instruments for evaluating older persons' technology adoption and usage as well as measuring the effects of the interventions are of high priority. Both usability and acceptance of a specific technology or service are important factors in evaluating the impact of a health information technology intervention. Psychometric measures are seldom included in evaluations of health technology. However, basic attitudes and sentiments toward technology (eg, technophilia) could be argued to influence both the level of satisfaction with the technology itself as well as the perception of the health intervention outcome. Objective: The purpose of this study is to develop a reduced and refined instrument for measuring older people's attitudes and enthusiasm for technology based on relevant existing instruments for measuring technophilia A requirement of the new instrument is that it should be short and simple to make it usable for evaluation of health technology for older people. Methods: Initial items for the TechPH questionnaire were drawn from a content analysis of relevant existing technophilia measure instruments. An exploratory factor analysis was conducted in a random selection of persons aged 65 years or older (N=374) on eight initial items. The scale was reduced to six items, and the internal consistency and reliability of the scale were examined. Further validation was made by a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Results: The exploratory factor analysis resulted in two factors. These factors were analyzed and labeled techEnthusiasm and techAnxiety. They demonstrated relatively good internal consistency (Cronbach alpha=.72 and .68, respectively). The factors were confirmed in the CFA and showed good model fit (chi(2)(8)=21.2, chi(2)/df=2.65, comparative fit index=0.97, adjusted goodness-of-fit index=0.95, root mean square error of approximation=0.067, standardized root mean square residual=0.036). Conclusions: The construed TechPH score showed expected relations to external real-world criteria, and the two factors showed interesting internal relations. Different technophilia personality traits distinguish clusters with different behaviors of adaptation as well as usage of new technology. Whether there is an independent association with the TechPH score against outcomes in health technology projects needs to be shown in further studies. The instrument must also be validated in different contexts, such as other countries.

    Abstract [sv]

Follow the Raven: A Study of Audio Diegesis within a Game’s Narrative2017Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Virtual Reality is one of the next big things in gaming, more and more games delivering an immersive VR-experience are popping up. Words such as immersion and presence has quickly become buzzwords that’s often used to describe a VR-game or experience. This interactive simulation of reality is literally turning people’s heads. The crowd pleaser, the ability to look around in 360-degrees, is however casting a shadow on the aural aspect. This study focused on this problem in relation to audio narrative. We examined which differences we could identify between a purely diegetic audio narrative and one utilizing a mix between diegetic and non-diegetic sound. How to grab the player’s attention and guide them to places in order for them to progress in the story. By spatializing audio using HRTF, we tested this dilemma through a game comparison with the help of soundscapes by R. Murray Schafer and auditory hierarchy by David Sonnenschein, as well as inspiration from Actor Network Theory. In our game comparison we found that while the synthesized sound, non-diegetic, ensured that the sound grabs the player’s attention, the risk of breaking the player’s immersion also increases.

Particle Systems Using 3D Vector Fields with OpenGL Compute Shaders2014Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
    Abstract [en]

Context. Particle systems and particle effects are used to simulate a realistic and appealing atmosphere in many virtual environments. However, they do occupy a significant amount of computational resources. The demand for more advanced graphics increases by each generation, likewise does particle systems need to become increasingly more detailed. Objectives. This thesis proposes a texture-based 3D vector field particle system, computed on the Graphics Processing Unit, and compares it to an equation-based particle system. Methods. Several tests were conducted comparing different situations and parameters for the methods. All of the tests measured the computational time needed to execute the different methods. Results. We show that the texture-based method was effective in very specific situations where it was expected to outperform the equation-based. Otherwise, the equation-based particle system is still the most efficient. Conclusions. Generally the equation-based method is preferred, except for in very specific cases. The texture-based is most efficient to use for static particle systems and when a huge number of forces is applied to a particle system. Texture-based vector fields is hardly useful otherwise.

Screen-Space Subsurface Scattering, A Real-time Implementation Using Direct3D 11.1 Rendering API2015Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 180 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Context Subsurface scattering - the effect of light scattering within a material. Lots of materials on earth possess translucent properties. It is therefore an important factor to consider when trying to render realistic images. Historically the effect has been used for offline rendering with ray tracers, but is now considered a real-time rendering technique and is done based on approximations off previous models. Early real-time methods approximates the effect in object texture space which does not scale well with real-time applications such as games. A relatively new approach makes it possible to apply the effect as a post processing effect using GPGPU capabilities, making this approach compatible with most modern rendering pipelines.

Objectives The aim of this thesis is to explore the possibilities of a dynamic real-time solution to subsurface scattering with a modern rendering API to utilize GPGPU programming and modern data management, combined with previous techniques

Methods The proposed subsurface scattering technique is implemented in a delimited real-time graphics engine using a modern rendering API to evaluate the impact on performance by conducting several experiments with specific properties.

Results The result obtained hints that by using a flexible solution to represent materials, execution time lands at an acceptable rate and could be used in real-time. These results shows that the execution time grows nearly linearly with consideration to the number of layers and the strength of the effect. Because the technique is performed in screen space, the performance scales with subsurface scattering screen coverage and screen resolution.

Conclusions The technique could be used in real-time and could trivially be integrated to most existing rendering pipelines. Further research and testing should be done in order to determine how the effect scales in a complex 3D-game environment.

    Abstract [en]

    Abstract [sv]

Fractured Space: Race, Power, and the Policy Narrative of Segregation in Stockholm, Sweden2015Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years)), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Urban segregation and spatial expressions of inequality are increasingly pressing issues for European planners and public authorities. Within Stockholm, Sweden, these concerns have become inescapable, and the city’s social divisions and ‘immigrant issues’ have triggered fierce public debate throughout the country. Stockholm has, over the past few decades, become a showcase for a process of ‘splintering urbanism’ that has placed immense pressure on the city’s housing market and prompted a variety of political responses. Many suburbs built on the city’s edge in the 1960s and 70s (including Husby, Tensta, North Botkyrka, and Södertälje) have become islands of high unemployment, low social mobility, and stigmatization as the city centre has grown increasingly expensive and gentrified. In this paper, a qualitative case study on the relatively deprived, largely non-white neighbourhood of Alby is used to illustrate the discursive processes driving Stockholm’s racial segregation. By applying a critical discourse analysis to interview material with key planners from Alby, I articulate the link between structural racism, neoliberal housing policy, and Swedish planning norms to argue that segregation must be seen as a deeply political, historically rooted process. Drawing from post-structuralism and critical race theory, I contend that a needs-based policy approach within Stockholm’s housing and labour markets is critical for combating residential segregation and creating a more just urban environment.

Sustainable Supply Chains: Moving Chinese Garment Manufacturers Towards Sustainability2010Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year))Student thesis
    Abstract [en]

The fashion industry is beginning to understand the need to move strategically towards sustainability. Yet there appears at present little coordination between global fashion brands and their supply chains to pursue strategic sustainable development and ensure the long term resilience of their business. We asked: What does a fashion brand need to know about its first tier suppliers in China in order to form a strategy towards sustainability? We utilised a scientific, principle-based definition of sustainability and framework to identify the underlying challenges faced by two Chinese garment factories in moving strategically towards sustainability. The challenges enabled us to inform three strategic guidelines that a fashion brand should consider when working with its supply chain towards sustainability. Research draws on literature, interviews among industry experts, interviews with a major fashion brand, and on-site workshops with two of its first-tier garment factories in China. The results of our research indicate: 1) the specific challenges factories face are commonly associated with internal corporate culture, the fashion brand’s directives, and the regulatory environment in China; 2) the fashion brand should aim to broaden its purchasing priorities, generate increased collaboration with suppliers and build awareness towards empowerment and ownership of sustainability and associated strategies and actions.

    Abstract [sv]

This report describes the work with creating a CMS (Content Manager System). A CMS is a web tool so you easy can publish materials on your web page. With a CM Scan you can without any knowledge of programming web pages create and maintain a web page. This will result in that you and your organisation save time and money. You can also split the responsibility for the webpage in different roles, but still keep the control. We have chosen to create our CMS in a script language called php4 and with the database server MySQL, we have also used JavaScript a lot. User-friendly and simplicity are two words that we have been working against, and that is why we spent some extra time creating a system that is easy to work with. The report also describes the difficulties with our dedicated server, and how we installed it.

Cupsystemet: En kvalitativ fallstudie av en mobil webbtjänst2004Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
    Abstract [sv]

The thesis describes the following main question: Will the administrative labour during football tournaments be made easier with the help from a mobile web service or will it convey to unnecessary extra work? To be able to give a good and qualified answer to this question, the thesis will in the beginning describe how the technique for such a system might look like and also describe the existing administrative moments during a football tournament, this is too give the reader a deeper understanding for further reading. The thesis then goes on to describe a concrete system which is tested on three football tournaments. On the basis of the tests, interviews and through analysis of these the thesis will be able to answer our questions. The result which we present in the thesis have unfolded through testing of the system on three chosen football tournaments. The differences in way of labour pre and post the system have been analyzed and through interviews the value of these changes have been assessed. The results achieved in the thesis are as follows, the presented mobile web service does not only decrease the total work effort made by the tournament officials it also speeds up their work. With that information emerged we can conclude that the administrative work which occurs during a football tournament is made easier and it does not lead to any unnecessary extra work.
