    Abstract [sv]

    The goal of this project was to make the requirement process at the Swedish Coastguard more effective. The first step to achieve this was done by locating bottle necks in the process with value stream mapping method. The result of this study showed that the biggest restriction in the requirement process was while examining older requirement documents to understand what elements were suitable for the particular project. This was followed by a study of literature, interviews and theory of Lean Production with the ambition to investigate how the requirement process was handled on other companies and how to improve the process on the Swedish coast guard. This led to a number of potential enhancements of the process which later was evaluated. Requirements written by different people in different organizations were analyzed in order to sort out if there were some similarities’ which could be used as standard elements in a future standardization of the process. Another part of the study was to investigate what attributes led to a good first impression of the document. The conclusion was that there were a number of different standard elements and that a detailed table of contents led to a good first impression. The total result of this project consists of a process description and a suggestion of a new way of working with the requirement process. This is presented on an A3-sheet which should be used as support during the development process on the Swedish Coastguard.

    Abstract [en]

    Mumbai – the city of contrasts, is home for more than 20 million people. It is the financial centre and the most modern city in India. As most cities within developing countries Mumbai is striving to imitate the western model of growth and lifestyle to achieve a “developed” status. Motorization, especially private motorized modes, has become prioritized because they are seen as a big part of this development. This neglecting has also led to a significant prejudice against bicycle riding as a transport mode. Over 300 new cars are registered ever day in the city. Not only is congestion a big problem but pollution from vehicles are posing serious threats to peoples health and to the environment. 88% of the population is using public transport today but with a larger growing middle class, ready to buy private vehicles, traffic related problems are likely to worsen. The gap between rich and poor is increasing, parts of the population can hardly afford to use the public transport system. Even though Mumbai is claimed to have the highest income per capita in India, 40 % of the inhabitants are still living below the poverty line. There are many aspects in society that could have a positive effect if a well working bicycle infrastructure were to be developed in Mumbai. Bicycling is not something new in India, bicycles have been used for a long time both for commuting and transporting goods. India is the second largest producer of bicycles in the world. 3% - 7% of all trips are done by bicycles in Mumbai today but studies shows a sharp decline in bicycle journeys over the past two decades. It is likely that bicycles will disappear from the streets in less than a decade if no actions are taken from the government. Six goals have been chosen to look at in this thesis, they are; Equality, Safety, Mobility, Urban life, Environment and Health. Some facts under each goals are presented and it is explained how a well working bicycle network could improve some aspects under each goal. Design standards of how bicycle facilities should be constructed and an illustration of a bicycle masterplan is proposed based on interviews with the public, literature studies and analyzing of the existing roads. Recommendations on how to work with changing prejudices against bicycling and how the planning of a bicycle network could be implemented are given.

    Background: The population of the world is getting older and in the year of 2020, 1.2 billion people will be 60 years or older. A common health complaint affecting the quality of life in elderly persons are sleep difficulties. Physical activity is claimed to improve sleep quality and the maintenance of a normal circadian rhythm. Several studies have shown positive effects of physical activity on sleep quality, still the evidence of physical activity as sleep-promoter is insufficient. Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate associations between physical activities and sleep quality in persons ≥60 years of age. Methods: The study had a cross-sectional design and the study sample consisted of persons ≥60 years. Nine hundred and forty-five persons were included in the study and the associations between physical activity and sleep quality as well as health and physical function were calculated through non-parametric statistics. Results: In this study 524 (55.4%) were female. Mean age for females was 74.3 years (SD10.3) respectively 72.8 years (SD 10.1) for men (p= 0.035), 71.2 % performed physical activities regularly and there were no differences between genders. Physical activity had the strongest correlations with decreased daytime sleep, younger age (<80 years) and less difficulty sleeping due to pain or itch. Conclusion: Regular physical activity had a positive association with sleep quality, health and physical function.

    Abstract [en]

    Do there excist any differences in the way students experience teamwork from a socioemotional view? The purpose of this research study was to see if there are some differences between positive and negative framing effects among students who study technology or human science. The result of an experimental framingstudy with analysis of variance two-way ANOVA with a between subject design has been done between positive and negative framing from questionaries from tree different university library. The first maineffect, concerning the framing effect reached significance but the other maineffekt concerning the different university libraries did not. The purpose was to measure the effect of framing positive versus negative in the name of the socioemotional spectrum in the teamwork. There has been opposition between convergence and divergence in group interaction and a contrast in the group interaction between majority and minority. This present study can´t deliver some clear differences in the result. The main effect of positive framing with the highest score was a randoms sample of university library of human science, next was the library of technology and the last library of social science. The socioemotional experience of teamwork was equal for both human science and technology

    Abstract [en]

    Syftet med denna studie var att öka kunskap om de lärandevillkor som finns i en samspelskontext där personer med diagnosen autism ingår. Förförståelsen tar stöd i att allmänheten ofta saknar kunskap om och förståelse för personer med denna funktionsnedsättning som kan skapa disharmoni i det sociala samspelet. Studien är inspirerad av en satsning som Arbetsförmedlingen har gjort där de ville finna de dolda resurserna, de arbetssökande med funktionsnedsättningar, för att underlätta deras inträde på arbetsmarknaden. Den fenomenologiska forskningsansatsen användes för att nå fram till kärnan i lärandets påverkansprocesser. Utifrån respondenternas upplevelser av samspel som stöd för informellt lärande i en arbetssituation gjordes studien, där fenomenet är samspel och dess effekt är lärandevillkoren. Här kom respondenternas upplevelse av fenomenet i fokus och vilket stöd dessa respondenter egentligen fick. Datainsamlingen skedde via intervjuer och analyserades kvalitativt efter Giorgios analysmetod. Här har tolkningen av resultatet skett med hjälp av reproduktivt lärande, utvecklingsinriktat lärande och situerat lärande, för att beskriva respondenternas livsvärldar. Slutsatsen var att denna studie inte kunde finna några gynnsamma villkor för lärande ur ett samspelsperspektiv, för personer med diagnosen ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) i en arbetskontext. Resultatet visade på att dessa respondenter som ingått i denna studie, har en hög ambitionsnivå och kompetens, har upplevt avsaknad av samspel som stöd för lärande i en arbetsmiljö i interaktion med sina kollegor.

    Mindfulness: att tillämpa medveten närvaro2013Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year))Student thesis
    Abstract [en]

    I denna multistudie var syftet att mäta effekten av mindfulness och yoga på negativ stress. Kan yoga och mindfulness öka medveten närvaro och acceptansen för inre och yttre omständigheter? Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) har visat sig varit ett bra redskap att lära sig hantera för att kunna bibehålla lugn i en stressig miljö. I denna multistudie gjordes en kvantitativ undersökning där deltagare i yogakurser i Visby Yoga Center och Stockholm Yoga Shakti deltog i en enkätundersökning. Korrelationsanalys visade inget samband mellan stress och mindfulness och resultatet uppnådde ingen signifikans, n=20, dock en svag effektstyrka Cohens d=0,16. Multistudien omfattade även en kvalitativ intervjuundersökning som avsåg att undersöka om acceptans för yttre och inre påverkan ökade av mindfulness. Utav 8 deltagare var det 7 som ansåg att yoga ökade medveten närvaro och acceptans. Många framhöll att yoga var en säker väg till mindfulness genom kroppsövningar då mentala redskap tränades upp effektivt. Det inre lugnet gav en säkerhet som inte upplevts tidigare, samt att disciplinera sig att hitta tillbaka till det lugnet i stressade situationer. Yoga och mindfulness är icke presterande aktiviteter, det är ok att uppnå, känna och vara, just så som det är, att förhålla sig så ickedömande till det som upplevs. Många hävade att de kunde tillämpa mindfulness portionsvis via ”modem-metoden” även om de önskade att de kunde leva mindfulness aktigt via ”fast uppkoppling”. Gemensam slutsats var att via lugnet, icke-dömande attityd har acceptans och bra förhållningssätt till oönskade trauman och påverkan från omgivningen.

    Abstract [en]

    The aim of this study was to investigate determinants of help from informal or formal caregivers or a combination of both among people aged 75 or more and living at home, and the characteristics of the recipients, the help they received and their quality of life (QoL). The sample for this study was 448 elderly people, 75-99 years of age, living at home and receiving help with activities for daily living, instrumental or both instrumental and personal. Regression analysis showed high QoL not to be significantly related to who was providing the help, whilst it was related to higher age, living with someone, lower number of complaints and managing to be alone at home. Multinomial regression analysis showed age, number of children, number of complaints, the ability to stay alone at home and living alone to predict receiving help from different kinds of caregivers. Recipients receiving help from informal caregivers were younger, more often married and living together with someone, whilst those receiving help from both informal and formal caregivers had more help with instrumental and personal activities for daily living and were not able to stay alone at home as much as those receiving help from other kinds of caregivers. Those receiving help from formal caregivers had fewer children, were single and were living alone more often than the other recipients. Thus the responsibility for help for elderly people rests heavily on informal caregivers, whom it seems essential to support. As public service at home is preferably given to those living alone or able to stay alone at home, those without relatives may not be able to remain at home when their need of help increases.

    Abstract [en]

    Aim. This paper reports a study comparing the socio-demographic data, quality of life (QoL) and symptoms of older people living at home with and without help.Background. Despite growing numbers of older people worldwide, little is know about the differences between older people receiving help to live at home and those not receiving this, especially as regards QoL and symptoms. Not only symptoms but also dependency on others per se may reduce older people's QoL. From a nursing perspective, knowledge about such issues is important because the impact of symptoms may be reducible, even when diseases cannot be cured.Method. A postal questionnaire was sent to an age-stratified random sample of 1866 people aged 75 years or over. Of the respondents (n = 1248) 448 received help and 793 did not.Results. The group receiving help had a significantly higher age, more women, more people widowed and living alone, more children, a higher number of self-reported diseases and symptoms, greater inability to remain alone at home and lower QoL. Loneliness, depressed mood and abdominal pain were significantly related to low QoL in both groups. Living alone, not being able to remain alone at home without help, and fatigue were also predictive of low QoL among those receiving help, and number of diseases and sleep problems in those without.Conclusion. Receiving help with daily living seems to be significantly related to low QoL and goes along with a high number of symptoms that need to be considered in nursing care. Through regular visits, systematic assessment and intervention, especially focusing on older people's symptoms, nurses may contribute to improved QoL for this section of the population.

    The present study describes and compares quality of life (QoL) and factors which predict QoL among people aged 75 years and over who receive help with activities of daily living (ADLs) from formal and/or informal helpers. The subjects were living at home or in special accommodation in Sweden. A postal questionnaire was sent to a randomly selected and age-stratified sample of 8500 people. The response rate was 52.8% (n = 4337), and 1247 people [mean age (+/- SD) = 86.4 +/- 5.9 years] received help and indicated who helped them with ADLs. The findings suggest that a greater age, being a woman, being a widow/widower, a higher number of health-related complaints, needing more help with ADLs and a lower QoL were found among those receiving help in special accommodation in comparison with those receiving help at home. The extent of help was highest among those receiving help in special accommodation. Having help with ADLs every day at home indicated having help from both informal and formal helpers, while respondents receiving help from only informal or only formal helpers received the smallest amount of help with ADLs. A need for greater help with ADLs, and a higher number of self-reported diseases and complaints determined low QoL, whilst a social network (contact with more than three people) and a greater age determined high QoL. However, who the helpers were did not have a significant influence on QoL; it was the extent of help with ADLs that influenced QoL negatively and the density of the social network that influenced QoL positively.

    Abstract [en]

    From a nursing perspective it is important to have information about the type of care needed, the reasons care is needed and quality of life among the most elderly people living in their own homes, in order to support their independence and maximise their quality of life. Thus a study was performed to investigate people aged 75 years and older dependent on care from professionals and/or a next of kin, their functional health, diseases, and complaints in relation to quality of life as perceived by themselves. The sample (n = 448) comprised those who, in an age-stratified randomised sample of adults living in their own homes, responded that they were dependent on help from others. The questionnaire covered sex, age, living conditions, civil status and number of children and cohabitation, respondents' health, diseases, quality of life, help from another person, and the type and amount of help received. The number of elderly persons dependent on help ranged from 18.5 to 79.1% in the different age groups. The help came mainly from informal carers (84.1%), and, in 53.1% of cases, from the home help service and home nursing care. Help from formal caregivers was given in combination with that from a next of kin in 38.8% of the cases. More next of kin than formal carers helped in all instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) and Personal Activities of Daily Living (PADL) tasks, with the exception of cleaning the house and providing a bath/shower. Although the respondents received help themselves, they also helped another person in 6.5% of cases. The elderly reported a median of three diseases and ten different complaints of which pain and impaired mobility: were the most frequent. Between 20 and 40% of the respondents in the different age groups reported restricted ability to be alone and one third of them reported low or very low duality of life. Multiple linear regression analysis showed the number of complaints, restricted ability to be alone, living alone and age to have a significant relationship on low quality of life.

    Abstract [sv]

    SAMMANFATTNING I Örebros översiktsplan från 2010 nämns tre förslag, nedgrävning, överdäckning och upphöjning av järnvägen för att minska dess störnings och barriäreffekter. Syftet med examensarbetet är att göra ett planförslag utifrån det förslag från Örebro kommun som mest minskar barriäreffekterna av järnvägen, bäst länkar samman Väster och centrum och svara på frågeställningen. För att genomföra det har två analyser utförts. En litteraturstudie med material från bland annat Jane Jacobs och Jan Gehl. Inventeringar för att hitta den befintliga grönstrukturen, infrastrukturen, bebyggelsestrukturen och rumsstrukturen. Nedan följer frågeställningen med svar. Hur kan stadsdelarnas unika karaktär och attraktivitet stärkas utan att de smälter samman till en? Enligt litteraturstudierna kan stadsdelarnas unika karaktär och attraktivitet stärkas genom att skapa en stad med ett offentligt rum där människor vill vistas och som bidrar till sociala kontakter. Detta kan ske genom att skapa en mångfald av kultur, service och handel. Utemiljön bör också vara anpassad efter oss och våra sinnen så vi upplever den på bästa sätt. Detta utförs i planförslaget genom att kvarter blir korta, äldre byggnader sparas och en hög koncentration av människor skapas så att områdena kan få flera funktioner. Det offentliga rummet anpassas till mänskliga avstånd bland annat genom att torg inte är större än 30 meter då det är gränser för att urskilja ansiktsuttryck och känslor. Stadsdelarnas karaktär kan bevaras genom att ny bebyggelse sammanknyter till den befintliga och att naturliga visuella gränser förstärks. Det utförs i planförslaget genom att den nya bebyggelsen har fått samma höjd som den på den östra sidan av järnvägen för att skapa en naturlig gräns mot den lägre homogena bebyggelsen på Väster. Vilka stråk ska skapas, förstärkas, minskas eller tas bort? Utifrån den analys som bygger på Kevin Lynch teorier ska följande stråkstärkas. Polis-/Skattehuset till Västers centrum via Järnvägsgatan och Jakobsgatan. Järntorget till Västers centrum via Olaigatan och Kilsgatan. Stortorget till Västers centrum via Vasagatan, Vasatorget och Ekersgatan. I planförslaget visas det genom att Stadsmönstret är anpassat efter stråken och att de har blivit huvudstråk. Vilka för- och nackdelar finns med nedgrävning, överdäckning samt upphöjning och vilken åtgärd är mest lämplig med avseende på att länka samman stadsdelarna? Enligt barriäranalysen som utgår från platserna där föregående stråk korsar järnvägen är nedgrävning det bästa förslaget med avseende på att länka samman Väster och centrum. Fördelarna är att ingen hänsyn behöver tas till järnvägsspåren och centralstation går att flytta. Det har en övergripande effekt på planförslaget då marken där järnvägen legat blir fri att använda till annat. Det bidrar även till att det blir möjligt att flytta Södra station och Centralstationen. Hur ska barriären i form av Östra Bangatan hanteras? Östra Bangatan ska bli en lugnare stadsgata. Det höga trafikflödet kommer att delas med Västra Bangatan. I Förslaget är Östra Bangatan smalare och hastigheterna kommer att sänkas för att minska genomfartstrafiken. Hur ska ny bebyggelse/platser anpassas till de befintliga? Inventeringarna visar att den nya bebyggelsen och platserna kan anpassa sig till den befintliga på flera sätt. I planförslaget länkar den nya bebyggelsen samman det klassicistiska stadsmönstret på Väster med rutnätsmönstret i Centrum. Grönstrukturen längs Svartån ska förlängas och förstärkas. Bebyggelsehöjden i Centrum ska gälla fram till Västra bangatan. Fördelarna med förslaget är att bullret och barriären från järnvägen och Östra Bangatan minskar. Östra bangatan kommer bli en lugnare och trevligare stadsgata. Det kommer bli lättare att ta sig mellan Väster och centrum. Centralstation kommer ligga mer centralt i Örebro och grönområdet längs Svartån kommer få ökad tillgänglighet. Nackdelarna med förslaget är att Östra Bangatan kommer bli svårare och ta längre tid att ta sig fram på och det kommer bli mer bilar på Väster.

    Bakgrund: Leukemi är ett samlingsnamn för olika sorters cancer i benmärgen. Sjukdomen kan påverka livskvalitén hos personen som drabbats. Att ha en djupgående och sammanhängande förståelse för en persons upplevelse av att leva med leukemi kan bidra till en stödjande process. Detta genom att vara omtänksam och involvera sig i personens livsvärld. En sammanställning av patografier som beskriver personers upplevelser och erfarenheter av livskvalité kan bidra till kunskap om hur en god omvårdnad kan utföras.

    Syfte: Syftet var att belysa upplevelsen av livskvalité hos personer med leukemi under deras sjukdomsperiod.

    Metod: Studien grundades på tre patografier och genomfördes som en innehållsanalys med kvalitativ ansats. Denna metod strävar efter att fördjupa förståelsen för personens upplevelser och erfarenheter. Analysen baserades på Graneheim och Lundmans tolkning av kvalitativ innehållsanalys.

    Resultat: Studiens analys resulterade i fyra kategorier; Ångest, Hopp, Social samvaro samt Bemötande. Dessa faktorer påverkade livskvalitén antingen positivt eller negativt. Då personerna fick ett gott bemötande av vårdpersonal beskrev de hur deras livskvalité påverkades positivt. Vid ett sämre bemötande upplevdes det ha negativ inverkan på livskvalitén.

    Slutsats: Studien visar att sjuksköterskan och övrig sjukvårdspersonal har en viktig roll för patientens livskvalité. Ytterligare studier kan dock behöva göras för att mer grundligt ta reda på hur sjukvårdspersonalen kan agera för att inge hopp till en patient med leukemi samt hjälpa denne att motverka eller hantera sin ångest och därmed bidra till en bättre upplevd livskvalité under sjukdomsperioden.

    Protagonist är ett starkt ord inom filmbranschen. Det är oftast denna karaktär som ställs i rampljuset när en film ska lanseras. Vi har i detta kandidatarbete fokuserat på protagonisten och dennes utveckling beroende på vad som händer honom/henne i filmen. Protagonisternas resor kan vara väldigt lika trots att genren och berättelsen är olika. Därför har vi även lagt tyngd på monomytens hjälteresa där Star Wars är ett tydligt exempel. Samtidigt finns det protagonister och deras vägar i utvecklingen av filmen som skiljer sig enormt som till exempel ”2001: A Space Odyssey” (1968) och ”The Shining” (1980). I vårt kandidatarbete lägger vi även tyngd på karaktärer och hur man bygger upp dem. I samband med vår studie har vi även producerat en egen kortfilm där vi vill visa en tydlig utveckling av vår protagonist och våra karaktärer. Till hjälp av detta har vi bland annat använt en karaktärsmall, av Martha Alderson, som noga tar upp en karaktärs detaljer så som rädslor, kärlek, hat och hemligheter. Vad vi kan konstatera är att karaktärerna håller berättelsen samman och driver handlingen framåt. Handlingen behöver dock inte följa monomyten. Vi konstaterar även att det största målet som påverkar handlingen definierar vem som är filmens protagonist.

    Abstract [en]

    Customer churn has always been a problem to be addressed by the telecommunication service providers. So far, work done in this regard was based on analyzing historical data of the customers by using different data mining techniques. Investigations based on individual user behavior with a motive of churn prediction are expected to give an idea about the user’s point view towards churn. Data volumes/data usage of the users is seen as parameter to assess the satisfaction of the users with the service. The subjective and objective behavior of the mobile phone users has been captured by collecting data about the data volumes/data usage for both Wi-Fi and mobile services along with their ratings of Quality of Experience (QoE).

     

    The Experience Sampling Method has been deployed to collect the user data. Android tool was used to collect weekly data volumes of the users. A questionnaire was prepared with questions regarding quality, annoyance and churn risk of the users. The questionnaire was used to collect the weekly opinions of the users on the service. A total of 22 users participated in the study, of which 3 persons churned to other service provider during the study. The data collected in the study was analyzed using averages, correlations and decision trees. Comparisons were made between Wi-Fi and mobile services, churners and non-churners/active users. A 2-fold churn prediction model was proposed based on conclusions of the study.

    Hälsa är ett centralt begrepp för sjuksköterskan. Det finns många definitioner av begreppet men vad som betraktas som hälsa varierar från individ till individ och är förknippat med grundläggande värderingar och kulturmönster. Det finns också många faktorer som kan påverka hälsan. Sverige har alltmer blivit ett mångkulturellt samhälle och detta visar sig även i vården. Studier visar på att invandrare har sämre hälsa än svenskar. För att kunna ge en individspecifik omvårdnad till personer med en annan kulturell bakgrund behöver hälso- och sjukvårdspersonal få en djupare förståelse för dessa personer. Syftet med denna litteraturstudie är att beskriva upplevelse av hälsa och ohälsa samt vad som kan påverka upplevelsen av hälsa hos personer med annan kulturell bakgrund. Metoden som använts är en litteraturstudie med kvalitativ ansats. Litteraturstudien baseras på tio vetenskapliga artiklar och resultatet i dessa har systematiskt analyserats. I resultatet framkommer två olika kategorier, nämligen känsla av tillhörighet, vilket visade sig leda till upplevelse av hälsa och känsla av främlingskap, vilket visade sig leda till upplevelse av ohälsa. Det finns många faktorer som kan påverka upplevelsen av hälsa. Det är av stor betydelse att personal inom hälso- och sjukvård har kunskap om och förståelse för vad som kan påverka upplevelsen av hälsa och hur omvårdnaden kan bli kulturkongruent. Denna förståelse kan då leda till att personer med annan kulturell bakgrund får en omvårdnad som ar anpassad efter deras behov. Det är också viktigt att utgå ifrån den enskilde individens perspektiv genom att möta honom/henne i den situation som han/hon befinner sig i nu och börja just där. Detta kan i sin tur leda till att personer med annan kulturell bakgrund i större utsträckning kan uppleva hälsa och välbefinnande.

Syfte 2: Vi vill också se om skolans organisation från kommunala skolpolitiker ner till lärare kommit så långt i sin omorganisering att man kan säga att målstyrning fungerar. Metod: Kandidatarbetet är utformat som en kvalitativ fallstudie och för att samla in det empiriska materialet har vi använt oss av öppna intervjuer. I vår avgränsning, att på kommunal nivå se och tolka hur mål formuleras för gymnasieskolan, har vi valt att intervjua personer inom gymnasienämnden, utbildningsförvaltningen och gymnasieskolan. Slutsatser: Idag fungerar den målstyrda skolan efter mycket slit av de ansvariga politikerna, förvaltarna, skolledningen och lärarna. Målstyrningsfilosofin är dock inte tillräckligt etablerad som norm ännu och det finns vissa detaljer i styrsystemet som behöver mer bearbetning. Ingen som arbetar i gymnasieskolan idag vill ha någon annan styrform och alla är överens om att i ett modernt demokratiskt samhälle som utbildar konstruktivt och kritiskt tänkande elever är målstyrning den mest kreativa lösningen.

    Den överlägset vanligaste formen av porträtt idag är porträttfotografiet. I denna studie har jag valt att undersöka tre av tidernas största porträttfotografers bildspråk för att på så vis kunna utvinna de röda trådar i deras porträttuppbyggnad och sedan applicera dessa på en egen porträttserie. Huvudfokus lades på att ta hänsyn till de faktorer och komponenter som påverkar bildens uppbyggnad och hur man sedan kan kombinera dessa. Detta både med hjälp av analysering på några av dessa fotografers mest berömda porträtt samt kommentarer och forskning på dem. Slutresultatet av denna undersökning blev en porträttserie där jag även har skrivit en motivering för varje bilds uppbyggnad.

    Det kom allt fler signaler att ensamheten bland äldre har ökat, även att äldres känslor av ensamhet har blivit ett problem som påverkar den ensamme psykiskt negativt. Sveriges äldre generation över 65 år beräknas att öka med ca 22 procent mellan åren, 2005-2010. Ett ökat behov av socialt umgänge bland de äldre i kommunen blev anledningen till att Röda Korset engagerade sig i uppsökande verksamhet. Detta sker med hjälp av frivilliga medmänniskor som besöker äldre som lever i ensamhet. Syftet med studien var att utvärdera hur Röda Korsets uppsökande verksamhet har fungerat för de berörda äldre i Karlskrona kommun. Metoden som valdes var en beskrivande och analytisk undersökning. Resultatet visade att besöksverksamhet tillfälligt lindrade känslan av ensamhet hos de medverkande, men att känslan av ensamhet återkom när besökaren hade gått. Författarna drog slutsatsen att besöken från Röda Korsets besöksverksamhet uppskattades mycket då de medverkande sa att besöken var väntade och gav dem något att se framemot. Det är kanske fler och längre besök som behövs för att förbättra ensamhetskänslorna hos de medverkande.

    This thesis uses a systematic understanding of sustainability informed by human needs, learning and design theory to explore ways in which small retail environments can effectively communicate sustainability concepts. The envisioned outcome of successfully communicating and implementing sustainability within retail environments is a lasting change in people’s daily behaviors. The methods of literature review, surveys, human needs investigation and professional validation are used to develop a behavioral change model centered on human needs and learning as well as six communication guidelines. The appendix of this thesis contains a user-friendly pocket guidebook titled The Six Guidelines for Sustainable Retail. The guidebook is designed as a quick-reference tool for retailers, designers and employees. It contains principles, visuals and concepts of sustainability for daily communication and comprehension purposes.

    This thesis describes research concerning the application of multi-agent based simulation for evaluating container terminal management operations. The growth of containerization, i.e., transporting goods in a container, has created problems for ports and container terminals. For instance, many container terminals are reaching their capacity limits and increasingly leading to traffic and port congestion. Container terminal managers have several, often conflicting goals, such as serve a container ship as fast as possible while minimizing terminal equipment costs The focus of the research involves the performance from the container terminal manager’s perspective and how to improve the understanding of the factors of productivity and how they are related to each other. The need to manage complex systems such as container terminals requires new ways for finding solutions, e.g., by applying novel methods and technologies. The approach taken in this thesis is to model the decision makers involved in the container terminal operations and various types of terminal equipment, e.g., cranes, transporters, etc., as software agents. The general question addressed in this work is: can the performance of a container terminal be improved by using agent-based technologies? In order to evaluate the multi-agent based systems approach, a simulation tool, called SimPort, was developed for evaluating container terminal management policies. The methods for modelling the entities in a container terminal are presented along with the simulation experiments conducted. The results indicate that certain policies can yield faster ship turn-around times and that certain stacking policies can lead to improved productivity. Moreover, a multi-agent based simulation approach is used to evaluate a new type of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) using a cassette system, and compare it to a traditional AGV system. The results suggest that the cassette-based system is more cost efficient than a traditional AGV system in certain configurations. Finally, an agent-based approach is investigated for evaluating the governance structure of the stakeholders involved in a transport corridor. The results of the research indicate that the performance of a container terminal can be improved by using agent-based technologies. This conclusion is based upon several studies, both conceptual and concrete simulation experiments. In particular, multi-agent based simulation seems to offer container terminal management a suitable tool to control, coordinate, design, evaluate and improve productivity.

    An agent based simulator for evaluating operational policies in the transshipment of containers in a container terminal is described. The simulation tool, called SimPort, is a decentralized approach to simulating managers and entities in a container terminal. Real data from two container terminals are used as input for evaluating eight transshipment policies. The policies concern the sequencing of ships, berth allocation, and stacking rule. They are evaluated with respect to a number of aspects, such as, turn-around time for ships and traveled distance of straddle carriers. The simulation results indicate that a good choice in yard stacking and berthing position policies can lead to faster ship turn-around times. For instance, in the terminal studied the Overall-Time-Shortening policy offers fast turn-around times when combined with a Shortest-Job-First sequencing of arriving ships.

    Abstract [en]

    Due to globalization and the growth of international trade, many container terminals are trying to improve performance in order to keep up with demand. One technology that has been proposed is the use of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) in the handling of containers within terminals. Recently, a new generation of AGVs has been developed which makes use of cassettes that can be detached from the AGV. We have developed an agent-based simulator for evaluating the cassette-based system and comparing it to a more traditional AGV system. In addition, a number of different configurations of container terminal equipment, e.g., number of AGVs and cassettes, have been studied in order to find the most efficient configuration. The simulation results suggest that there are configurations in which the cassette-based system is more cost efficient than a traditional AGV system, as well as confirming that multi agent based simulation is a promising approach to this type of applications.

    Abstract [en]

    The operations and decision making at a container terminal have been simulated. A Berth Allocation Management System – (BAMS) has been built which consists of two parts: a container terminal simulator modelling the operations and a management simulator modelling the various actors involved in the allocation of container ships to berths. Together these two parts generate berth schedules for arriving container ships. Two berth assignment policies are evaluated in different scenarios, with various quay lengths, berth spacing lengths, and ship arrival sequences. The decisions in assigning ships with different loading and discharging demands to a limited amount of resources, such as berth space and cranes are analysed with the BAMS. The berths at the container terminal are modelled by the BAMS to be dynamic in the sense that berth segmentation is based on the current situation rather than being static. The policies are evaluated in terms of turn-around time and distance travelled by the straddle carriers. The simulation results indicate that an informed choice of berth assignment policy can provide better use of the available resources, e.g., by reducing turnaround time and/or distance travelled by the straddle carriers.

    The purpose of this study is to develop an optimization model that can select handling equipment and ships from a strategic level. This model can help when investing in systems for handling unitized cargo at port terminals in the context of Short Sea Shipping (SSS). Initial model results indicate that a LoLo vessel with a capacity between (500 and 1000 TEU) capable of completing a SSS voyage, when handling is completed in 48 hours will be less costly than a RoRo, which may have multiple voyages for TEU volumes greater than 1000.

The information society members benefits from information sharing with use of multi-agents.

    The presented thesis deals with the urban dimension of the European and the German National Policy and their interconnection. After defining urban policy in general, the European and the German national level have been analyzed in terms of their development of an urban dimension, the involved institutions and actors and the subjects as well as the obstacles of an imple-mentation of urban policy. The similarity of the dealt subjects provide the bases for the following study of the pros and cons of urban policy and the relation of European and German National ‘Urban’ Policy. The author discovered that against the background of the various urban problems and the opportunities the cities provide, the European as well as the German national level are interested to have a share in the cities’ devel-opment. Therefore they have made an effort to use urban policy as an in-strument to directly exert influence on urban areas since several decades. But so far, neither a European Urban Policy nor a National Urban Policy in Germany has been implemented, since the legalization is a complicated as well as controversial operation. Various actors are involved and the political levels partly hinder each other because they are afraid of loosing compe-tences and influence. In addition, it is not even clear if policy is the right in-strument to deal with urban areas, since the discussion for and against urban policy is based on individual opinions and not on theories. Regardless of this, if there is the declared intention to further develop urban policy on the European and the German national level, the existing close linkage between them, in terms of their mutual support of development and similar goals, will be needed in future as well.

    Bakgrund. Många patienter oroar sig inför kirurgiska ingrepp. Ett av orosmomenten är smärtan efter operationen. Smärtpåverkade patienter utsätts för ett lidande. Detta lidande bryter patientens naturliga förhållningssätt till den levda världen. Många faktorer påverkar individens upplevelser av smärta. Syftet var att belysa patienters postoperativa smärta. Metoden var en litteraturstudie grundad på vetenskapliga artiklar. Analysmetoden är inspirerad av Malteruds metodbeskrivning. Resultatet är uppbyggt utifrån tre teman; Sjuksköterskans inverkan på patientens smärtupplevelser, varierande grad av postoperativ smärtintensitet, varierande grad av postoperativ smärta efter given smärtbehandling. Resultatet visar att sjuksköterskan förhållningssätt påverkar patientens smärtupplevelser samt att patienter till stor del är tillfredsställda med smärtbehandlingen av deras postoperativa smärta. Slutsatser Postoperativa smärtupplevelser är individuella. Smärtlindring av postoperativ smärta måste vara individanpassad. Sjuksköterskans förhållningssätt, patientens tidigare erfarenheter, ålder samt emotionella status påverkar patientens smärtupplevelse.

    Abstract [en]

    The research presented is motivated by the demand for process improvement for companies active within software development. High demands on software quality are a reality. At the same time, short development time and low effort consumption are required. This stresses the necessity for process improvement. Empirical research methods and close cooperation with the industry partner addressed the research challenge. The research presented in this thesis shows how the analysis of faults through fault classification can be used to determine suitable and required process improvements. Two alternatives are investigated. First, a lightweight approach, and second a fault classification approach targeting all faults. The suitability of the fault classification is stressed as well as the importance of assigning the correct fault class. The latter is determined by classifier agreement calculations. Additionally, the research proposes that the appropriate occasion for a correct fault classification is alleged to be when the fault is corrected. The research also introduces an approach to tailor the verification and validation process. The tailoring process suggested considers the functionality characteristics and the software entity complexity in terms of couplings. This is used to select the appropriate and efficient process for verification and validation.

    It is next to impossible to let a day go by without coming into contact with a computer system in some way, either by direct usage, or making a telephone call that is directed by computer systems. Due to the importance of computer systems we are all concerned with their quality, directly or indirectly, a malfunctioning system will disturb our lives in more or less drastic ways. Each stakeholder promotes his qualities and priorities for the system, and this will eventually lead to conflict, depending on relations between qualities. There is no simple solution to the problem of relating and conflicting quality attributes. But by making an informed decision it is possible to soften the effects of the trade-offs and gain a higher level of total software quality. The way to make an informed decision is to have knowledge about the relations between quality attributes along with insights of the consequences of the decision. This report gives a short introduction to the problem, and surveys both the relations stated within academia, and industry. The intention is to explore the knowledge present within academia and collect and present the established relations found by researchers. Further this report presents a survey carried out at companies working in different areas with software engineering, to show which relations that are visible to industry and how they are handling the relations between quality attributes. This gathered knowledge intends to support the ambition towards higher quality in software engineering.

    Abstract [en]

    Process improvement is of high importance and with crucial impact on business and prosperity for software developing companies. The requirements on software are that it needs to be produced faster, cheaper and with higher quality. A recent trend in software development is the use of agile methods. The general idea of more lightweight approaches can also be applied to process improvement. The authors describe a fault-driven lightweight process improvement approach to be used between projects. The objective is to decrease the number of faults and hence shorten the project lead-time. The fault-driven process improvement approach sets focus on business requirements and relevance for the company associated. We discuss the need for a lightweight approach and introduce a lightweight process improvement method. It also reports on some findings from an industrial study and presents some conclusions.

    Abstract [en]

    Based on prior investigations and the request from a collaborative research partner, UIQ Technology, an investigation to develop an improved and more informative fault classification scheme was launched. The study investigates the level of agreement, a prerequisite for using a fault classification, between classifiers in an industrial setting. The method used is an experimental approach performed in an industrial setting for determining the agreement among classifiers facilitating for example Kappa statistics for determining the agreement. From the study it is concluded that the agreement within the industrial setting is higher than obtained in a previous study within an academic setting, but it is still in need of improvement. This leads to the conclusion that the experience within industry as well as the improved information structure in relation to the previous study aids agreement, but to reach a higher level of agreement, additional education is believed to be needed at the company.
