Abstract [en]

The film industry has seen a significant shift towards utilising virtual production in the last decade. With demand for realism, photogrammetry has emerged as a preferred tool to create lifelike virtual counterparts of the real world. Independent movie makers, with its advantages and disadvantages, gained access to these methods only in the last couple of years. This research aims to investigate the usage of photogrammetry with virtual production for independent productions, with focus on different aspects of the methods as well as taking into consideration what is available to independent producers.

As a result of the research, it is found that both virtual productions as well as photogrammetry are still not accessible for independent filmmakers. There is still a need for development and research into both methods before they can be considered to be accessible and sustainable for both the film industry and independent filmmakers.
