Abstract [en]
This thesis addresses the design of mobile applications for elderly users, focusing on cognitive and visual challenges. Using a user-centered approach, the study combines literature review and expert interviews in Europe to identify effective design practices.
Key findings highlight that elderly users struggle with small text, low-contrast visuals, and complex navigation, worsened by cognitive declines. Recommended design strategies include larger text and buttons, high-contrast color schemes, simplified navigation, and voice navigation features.
These insights are compiled into guidelines for developers, stressing the importance of user research, iterative design, and adaptive features. Inclusive design can improve the digital experience for the elderly, enhancing their engagement and accessibility.
