Abstract [sv]

Bakgrund: Hälsoproblemen bland barn i skolåldern ökar. Skolsköterskan arbetar med hälsosamtalet som en del i det hälsofrämjande arbetet och kan använda den informationen för hälsofrämjande insatser. Skolsköterskor uppger svårigheter med att arbeta med hälsofrämjande insatser. Det saknas insikt i skolsköterskans kompetensområde och stöd från skolans ledning i att hantera och använda resultaten från hälsosamtalen.

Syfte: Syftet var att utforska hälsosamtalet som en del i skolsköterskans hälsofrämjande arbete för elever i årskurs fyra till nio.

Metod: En studie med en kvalitativ metod baserad på semistrukturerade intervjuer med nio skolsköterskor i Blekinge. Det insamlade materialet analyserades utifrån Graneheim och Lundmans kvalitativa innehållsanalys.

Resultat: Analysen resulterade i nio underkategorier samt de tre kategorierna Hälsosamtalet som grund för hälsofrämjande insatser på flera nivåer, Hälsosamtalet öppnar upp för vidarekontakt och samverkan med vårdnadshavare, andra professioner och stödjande verksamheter och Betydande faktorer för att genomföra hälsosamtalet som bildade ett övergripande tema: Hälsosamtalet är essentiellt för hälsofrämjande arbete i samverkan och på olika nivåer och kräver rätt förutsättningar

Slutsats: Fynden från resultatet visar en samstämmighet i att skolsköterskors hälsofrämjande arbete har en stor roll i att främja elevers hälsa. Det framkom dock att det saknas tid att analysera den information som framkommer i hälsosamtalen och en brist i förståelse för skolsköterskans uppdrag och vad hälsosamtalet kan bidra med i det hälsofrämjande arbetet.

Abstract [en]

Background: The health issues among school-aged children is rising. School nurses conduct health dialogues as a foundational element of health promotion efforts, utilizing these interactions to inform targeted interventions. Despite this, school nurses report challenges in executing effective health-promotion measures, citing limited recognition of their professional competencies and insufficient support from school leadership in processing and leveraging the insights gained from health dialogues.

Aim: This study aimed to examine the role of the health dialogue within the school nurse's health promotion framework, specifically focusing on students in grades throughout four to nine.

Method: This qualitative study employed semi-structured interviews with nine school nurses in the Blekinge region. Data were analyzed using Graneheim and Lundman’s approach to qualitative content analysis, allowing for a comprehensive exploration of thematic insights.

Results: The analysis resulted in nine subcategories and three main categories: The health dialogue as a foundation for health-promoting actions at multiple levels, The health dialogue facilitates further contact and collaboration with guardians, other professionals or supportive organizations, and Key factors influencing the implementation of the health dialogue. These categories formed an overarching theme: The health dialogue is essential for health promotion efforts in collaboration and across various levels, requiring appropriate conditions to be effective.

Conclusion: The findings indicate a consensus that school nurses play a significant role in promoting students' health through health-promoting activities. However, it was revealed that there is insufficient time allocated to analyze the information obtained from the health dialogues and a lack of understanding regarding the school nurse's role and how the health dialogue can contribute to health promotion efforts.
