Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This project investigates the extent to which an interactive game about cultivating tomatoes can increase children's interest and motivation to cultivate crops in real life. The game is aimed at children aged 5–10 and aims to convey knowledge about how a tomato is grown, from seed to finished tomato, in an educational and engaging way.

One of the central aspects of the project is the transition from game to real action. By ending the game with concrete instructions for planting a real tomato seed, the connection between digital and physical learning is strengthened.

The survey is based on a limited sample and the results from the survey should therefore be interpreted with caution. Based on the results of the literature study, it can be concluded that a digital game about cultivating can potentially strengthen children's motivation to cultivate crops in real life.

By investigating how green environments affect children, both with reduced stress and better mental health, a conclusion can be drawn in this project: green environments are of great importance for children's well-being. Cultivation is also an important knowledge that is at risk of being lost, the project has highlighted these parts and the results show that a digital game increases the likelihood that a child will also want to try cultivation in reality.
