Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study was to explore how preschool class teachers perceive the use of multimodal stories as a tool to increase students’ motivation to read. The study is based on a qualitative method using questionnaires as the primary data collection tool and includes teachers’ experiences of working with an interactive story in their teaching. The results show that teachers generally have a positive attitude toward this type of digital resource. They find that the multimodal format—combining text with sound, images, and interactivity—stimulates curiosity, promotes engagement, and encourages students to actively participate in storytelling. At the same time, participants highlight certain challenges, such as limited access to technology and a need for professional development. Despite a low response rate, a clear pattern emerges that aligns with previous experience and research. This study provides insights into how digital storytelling formats can serve as meaningful complements in early reading instruction and underscores the importance of further developing pedagogical digital tools.
