Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The proportion of students leaving compulsory school without eligibility for upper secondary education in Sweden has increased in recent years, and Swedish is one of the subjects where most students lack a passing grade. This study examines the potential of nano-learning as a complementary digital tool to traditional teaching in Swedish for students in grade 9. Three methods are combined: a survey targeting the study group, a prototype development of a nano-learning tool, and a literature review of existing research in the field. The findings suggest that nano-learning is perceived as having potential as a complement to traditional instruction, provided that careful pedagogical design and clear learning objectives are applied to avoid superficial learning. The study contributes a practice-oriented perspective on how short digital formats can be integrated into school education and is relevant to teachers, school leadership and developers of digital learning materials.
